Kids Quilt Sewing Derby

A unique opportunity for children ages 8-15 to experience sewing and learn an alternative way of quilting that allows them to make quick and easy quilts. This workshop is being offered free of charge in honor of Margaret Bell, honoring her mission of teaching others the joy of quilting. Bring your machine or use one of ours and be prepared for a day of fun and learning.

Utilize pre-cut placemat forms to make a tote and matching clutch. Kits can be used to make placemats or table runners as well (no binding required).

Getting Started - Cameo 3

Need a little help and encouragement to get that new Cameo out of the box and making some awesome crafts? Join us for a class on the basics that will get you started. You will learn the in's and out's of Silhouette Studio 4.1 and Silhouette operations. Come join the fun.
Items to bring:
• Silhouette Cameo and laptop with Studio 4.1 installed
• Mat
• Blade
• Tools - Weeder, etc
• Transfer tape (available for purchase at store)
• Items to place design on (glass, cup, etc.)
Items provided - Adhesive vinyl, 2 sheets of heat transfer vinyl

Class Fee - free to those purchasing a Cameo from the Shreveport Sewing Center; $25 for those purchasing their machine elsewhere.

Long Arm Quilting 101

OK, I have my longarm, what do I do now? Longarm 101 will introduce you to the basic skills you need to be successful in your longarm quilting, regardless of what machine you have. You'll learn how to achieve good stitch quality, how to deal with common issues, and more. You'll learn basics of free motion quilting, using a pantograph, and when and how to use rulers. You'll complete a small class piece to take home. Bring your manual.

Serger Club

Get a new serger for Christmas or need a refresher on how to use your serger? Join us for a multi part Serger Fundamentals class. Class will be split to accommodate both 4-thread and 8-thread machines.
Pre-requisite:
• You must be familiar with the general threading and operation of your serger. If you are not, please schedule an individual session prior to class so that you can be ready.
• Serger in good working order. We will not have time to work on machines during class so please check your machine prior to class and bring it in for repair or service prior to class, if needed.

Kit fee: $15 if you need a printed
workbook and materials to be used during class.

Kids Sewing

Kids sewing meets the second Saturday of the month from 9 am -12 pm except in June, July, August and October at a cost of $35 per session. Children must be at least 8 years of age to participate. Call the store for reservations 318-688-2402

All types of machines are welcome; however, the user should be proficient in threading and operation of the machine and the machine must be in good working order. Kit charges, if applicable. Explore new and different ways to use your Cameo Silhouette machine. Sessions cover software, design creation, cutting and project ideas. Students have fun making their creative ideas come true with the assistance of experienced instructors. Reservations are appreciated so that we can plan.
